Healthcare policy expert will work alongside partners and entrepreneurs to enhance the future of the American healthcare industry
Greenwich, Connecticut (January 11, 2016) – Oak HC/FT, a leading venture growth-equity fund investing in healthcare information and financial technology companies, announced today the appointment of Ezekiel “Zeke” J. Emanuel as Venture Partner. Emanuel will put forth his unique expertise around the American healthcare system to advise the firm as well as current and potential partners, including entrepreneurs and portfolio company executives.

Zeke is an oncologist and was an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and then Chair of the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health. Since 2011, Zeke has been at the University of Pennsylvania serving as the Vice Provost of Global Initiatives, the Chair of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy, as well as the Diane and Robert Levy University Professor, where he will continue to serve in all roles. From January 2009 to January 2011 he served as a special advisor on health care in the Office of Management and Budget. He has written over 250 academic articles and numerous books, most recently Reinventing the American Health Care System. He is a contributor to the New York Times. Zeke has advocated many policy objectives that have been adopted by CMS including bundled payments for cancer care, mandatory bundled payments for hip and knee replacements, and payment reform for end-of-life care.
